Week Without Walls in the Mekong Delta

At Shattuck St. Mary’s Vietnam, learning extends far beyond the classroom. Through real-world experiences, students are encouraged to explore, reflect, and apply their knowledge in meaningful ways.

During this year’s Week Without Walls in the Mekong Delta, our high school students took part in a rich experiential learning journey focused on service learning, cultural understanding, and practical skill development. Throughout the trip, students engaged in hands-on activities including farming, local food production, cooking, community exploration, and working alongside students at a local elementary school.

These experiences helped students strengthen the essential skills needed for success in global academic environments, including independence, communication, adaptability, collaboration, and thoughtful decision-making.

By connecting classroom learning with real-world communities and cultures, Week Without Walls allows students to better understand the world around them and their role within it.

Through experiential learning, SSM Vietnam prepares students not only to study the world, but to engage with it confidently.
