Faculty Spotlight: Meet Ms. Sophie Barnes, Grade 1 Homeroom Teacher

We are excited to feature Ms. Sophie Barnes, our Grade 1 Homeroom Teacher. Growing up in Hong Kong gave Ms. Barnes an early appreciation for diverse cultures, languages, and global perspectives. Before joining our campus, she taught elementary education in Saint Louis, Missouri.

Ms. Barnes holds a Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education and a Missouri State Teaching License. With three years of elementary teaching experience and intermediate proficiency in Mandarin, she brings strong professional expertise and an international outlook to her classroom.

For Ms. Barnes, Grade 1 is a crucial time for young learners to build curiosity, confidence, and a positive relationship with learning. She focuses on creating a safe, encouraging environment where students feel comfortable asking questions, sharing ideas, and learning from mistakes. Through her guidance, students develop foundational academic skills, critical thinking, and empathy from an early age.
